Profile

Scott is a semi-retired man in his mid-60s who is enjoying the third career of his life and loving it. He was never formally educated in building construction but has always enjoyed learning about how and why homes are assembled. Scott was forced to learn more about construction when he and his wife rebuilt their 1940s home several years ago. It taught him an appreciation for the art and science of proper construction.

A home is more than wood, metal, and drywall. To the owner, it is their sanctuary and the center where both the joys and sorrows of their lives occur. Scott tries to remember that fact whenever he performs a home inspection. The relationships he has established with homeowners are very fulfilling.

“Working with Hayman Engineering has been a blessing. It is often dirty and uncomfortable work, but it is also enjoyable and almost fun! As long as HUD requires manufactured home inspections and I am physically able, I plan to continue my great relationship with Hayman Engineering.”

Interesting Experience

“Every home is different. I have learned to adapt to each situation. One of the first homes I serviced for Hayman was a home set completely on a 4 inch concrete slab. Being a hot summer day, I decided to wear shorts to the field. After crawling under the home on the concrete checking out tie-downs and scraping up my knees to the point of bleeding, I went and bought a pair of knee pads that afternoon. I use them every time now! Another lesson learned.”
